Accutane, Acne, Teens and Depression? Is there any truth to it?

This is some info for parents of teenage children on a recent study into the effect of accutane and depression or suicidal thoughts in teens.  Accutane is one of the more severe acne treatments that work and really should be used last. 

10 mg of an Accutane Tablet capsule.

The study was carried out in Norway.

"A new study, however, suggests that severe acne alone, apart and aside from using any drugs, can cause thoughts of suicide or depression."

Ultimately you should research carefully and discuss with your Doctor before your teenage has accutane as a acne treatment.  Accutane can be highly a highly effective acne treatment but there are a lot of side effects you need to understand before using,  (Especially pregnant women should not use accutane at all.)

Acne can be very tough on teenagers and self-esteem issues and can get them down.  You should of course keep an eye on your teenager and try to talk to them about any problems or feelings they have.  You need to allow them to say whatever they have to say without repercussions to them.  If only they knew how unimportant acne and looks are.  All of this is easier said than done.

Celebrities Who Got Over Acne

Celebrities are like any one, they can get acne too.  Some do have public stories of acne treatments that work.

R & B Star Usher had bad acne when he was 17.  He was even called pizza face, hard to believe but true.

Are you a Spotty Person or a Person with Spots?

Asking a person with acne if they are a "Spotty Person" or a "Person with Spots" may seem rude or highly insulting.  But people suffering from acne do this to themselves all the time.

Sometimes people can not see beyond their own spots or acne.  They define themselves as a spotty person not as a person who has spots or acne.  Are they insulting themselves, or selling themselves short?  How do other people see them?

Their happiness can become a prisoner to their negative thinking and negative feelings around their own acne.

Before you begin treating acne, you need to look at what you want to get out of the treatment.  Are you trying to cure your acne or the person you have made yourself?

Acne Light Therapy With an iPhone4 ?

Can you believe you can now use an iPhone to treat your acne with acne light therapy?  An excuse to get a new iPhone4 for an Acne Free Treatment?

The iPhone application is called AcneApp and is available in the Apple iTunes for $1.99 per download.  You can see the application on the phone below.

How does it work?  

The AcneApp device gives off wavelengths of 420 nanometers of blue light and 660 nanometers of red, according to the product information. Blue light, according to the app, fights acne causing bacteria, while red light helps heal skin.

However there is no medical evidence yet that AcneApp works.  Although Doctors say the frequencies are close to the light frequencies used in acne light therapy they are a 1000 times less powerfull with the intensity of the iPhone.

Price of app $1.99, price of phone $699, acne gone at $702?

Acne treatments that work, probably less that $700 anyway.

Good excuse to get an iPhone?  Definitely.

Start your Journey to Acne Free Treatment

For getting  acne treatments that work you need to understand what is the main cause of acne.  Acne is primarily caused by oil getting trapped in your skin pores.  The pores can be blocked by dirt, grease or dead skin cell.
The first thing you can do for treating acne is keep you skin and face clean.  Avoid touching your face to keep surface grease and dirt down.

Clean your face twice a day, morning and night.  Wash your face with warm water, mild soap and a soft cloth.  The warm water will open your pores and the soft cloth will not damage or irritate your skin further.

Give this a try for a week and see how your skin improves.  Cleaning your skin and keeping it clean will really reduce the amount of additional treatment you will have to get for your acne which is good.  You may get a few extra pimples for the first few days, this is just your skin getting cleaned out.  It dies down after a few days.

This is a new Acne Treatments That Work Blog.  I aim to bring you lots of advice and information on acne free treatment.  I know that having acne can be very distressing.  It can cause you to feel low.  The important thing to remember, if it helps, is that people do not see your acne when they look at you, they see you.

Anyway there are a few simple things you can do and we'll try to have your skin looking better.  This blog will have posts and articles to reduce and cure your acne.  There will also be specialist info for ladies on acne treatment pregnancy.
